There is no escaping technology – even in death. Technology is woven into now almost every part of our lives and as a consequence is something we need to consider when preparing a will in the event of death. New York resident Jerald Spangenberg passed away whilst playing the online game ‘World of Warcraft’ in 2009. His daughter Melissa spent weeks trying to track down his account details to notify her father’s online friends that he had passed away. Regrettably he had not left instructions and details of his passwords and usernames. Owing to fears of online fraud and identity theft we are conditioned to create impenetrable passwords and not record the information anywhere.
